Unsolicited Press's December Releases and Information About Upcoming Reading Series
December is here and so are the holidays. We always believe that the holiday season is the perfect time to stay in and devour books. This month our team is launching five books, a mix of poetry, novellas, and short fiction.
Our exclusive reading series also launches this month (paid subscribers receive exclusive invites before inviting everyone as we are capping the attendance at 25). We are working alongside Rosalia Scalia to launch a book launch reading series, set to start very soon. These readings will be open to anyone and will be live-streamed on many of our social media accounts.
Let’s dive into all the details.

Two Reading Series Coming Up
The OG Reading Series
This winter we will be reviving our original reading series (held on Wednesdays at 5:45PM Pacific Time via Zoom) In 2023, we were not able to host these due to time constraints. To revive the reading, we’re enlisting our authors to host readings that will present two Unsolicited Press authors. The format will be an “in conversation” style where the authors will ask one another questions in addition to reading from their respective works.
Our first reading will be this evening and is open to everyone. Information can be found on our events page. The capacity for the Wednesday night readings will be 25 listeners. During these readings, the publisher will unveil a book deal, so be sure to attend to snag those deals (often free books and stickers). Starting in January, the readings will be offered to our paid subscribers first, and then opened up to everyone else.
Upcoming readings include:
—Jan 24, 2024 05:45 PM Pacific Time: In Conversation with David Nash and Joseph Costa, hosted by Lara Lillibridge
—Feb 28, 2024 05:45 PM Pacific Time: In Conversation with Laurie Woodford and Robert Van Vliet
The Book Launch Reading Series
Our newest as well as a new book launch reading series hosted by the ever-so-kind Rosalia Scalia. For the Book Launch reading series, the schedule will be provided soon. The first reading is set to air live on December 13th in the evening. Follow us on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook to catch those. Everyone is welcome to join.
2023 Pushcart Prize Nominees
We recently announced our selections for the 2023 Pushcart Prize. We wanted to continue the celebration of those writers by reminding you that you can get their books for 10% off list price or as a bundle (includes all six titles) for just $75.
Covers for Upcoming Titles
Our team really loves a good cover. And we don’t usually reveal them until almost pub day, but today we’d like to share some covers that are wrapping some books in 2024. Tell us what you think!

Our press is an official partner of the Writing Against the Darkness team that is hosted by Not a Pipe Publishing. The Alzheimer’s Association has an annual fundraiser called The Longest Day. Around the world, chapters of The Alzheimer’s Association organize groups who do fundraisers on the longest day of the year, wherein volunteers do things like walkathons, knitting, etc., and ask people to donate money to raise funds for Alzheimer’s disease research and care for families. A few years ago, a small press, Not a Pipe Publishing, started a The Longest Day team called Writing Against the Darkness where writers gather, some in person but mostly via Zoom, and write from dawn until dusk on the summer solstice, Thursday, June 20th, 2024. we are officially partnering to grow the team and support this cause.
Our publisher, Summer, will be writing a publishing newsletter starting in January 2024. We will be providing those juicy details in our mid-December newsletter. She has stories about the industry that you won’t want to miss.
